The Department of Food Science and Technology was proud to participate in the 10th Annual Extruded Pet Foods & Treats Short Course, hosted by the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). Now in its tenth year, this course continues to serve as a premier platform for industry professionals to connect, collaborate, and dive deep into the science and innovation shaping the future of pet food.

Throughout the multi-day program, attendees engaged in comprehensive sessions covering formulation techniques, extrusion equipment, ingredient functionality, and current trends in the growing pet food and treats market. The course also featured hands-on demonstrations, giving participants practical experience with processing methods and product development strategies.

As part of the event, participants toured our very own Electron Beam facility, where they gained insight into how eBeam technology is being used to enhance food safety, extend product shelf life, and drive innovation across the pet food industry.

A special moment from this year’s course was a surprise visit from Reveille, Texas A&M’s beloved mascot. Her appearance added a memorable touch of Aggie spirit and tradition to the day and of course made for the perfect photo opportunity.

The Department of Food Science and Technology is always excited to support professional development opportunities like this which not only advance the field of food and pet nutrition but also highlight Texas A&M’s leadership in research, education, and innovation.
