Dr. Luis O. Tedeschi is an associate professor in the Department of Animal Science and Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. He is also a member of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Nutrition (http://nutr.tamu.edu). He received his bachelor’s degree in Agronomy Engineer from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) in 1991, his master’s degree in Animal and Forage Sciences from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) in 1996, and his doctorate in Animal Science from Cornell University (NY) in 2001. Prior to joining Texas A&M University in 2005, Dr. Tedeschi was a Research Associate at Cornell University (NY) from 2002 to 2005.
Dr. Tedeschi teaches ANSC 604 Ruminant Nutrition, ANSC 625 Precision Diet Formulation, and ANSC 489/689 Brazil Comparative Ruminant Production for undergraduate and graduate students. He conducts research on energy and nutrient requirements of grazing and feedlot animals, growth biology and bioenergetics, chemical composition and kinetics of fermentation of feeds, modeling and simulation of decision support systems, and evaluation of models (http://nutritionmodels.tamu.edu). He has collaborated with several researchers overseas to develop models for small ruminants (sheep and goats). He utilizes System Dynamics concepts applied to nutrition.
Dr. Tedeschi has been an active developer of submodels and contributor to the Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System and the Cattle Value Discovery System. He has published more than 100 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and presented in more than 50 conferences and workshops worldwide on modeling nutrition.
Professional memberships include the American Society of Animal Science, Brazilian Society of Animal Science, Feed Analysis Consortium, American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists, and System Dynamics Society.
